Default Bob church classic

I am writing this thread, to establish what the critertia is ,about gaining access to the Bob Church classic match? It is portrayed as being a invitation only match in the hooked magazine, but I was wondering how to gain access to this match? I know that it is linked to the England team ,but there seems to be a lot of extra people that gain entrance for no apparent reason! Could anybody spring some light, as to how to gain a place in this match ,as I would be very interested to fish amongst the elite of this country.

Al Beaumont.

Look at the hooked mags comp calender and 4th April is the Alan West Memorial, this is a match open to anyone and includes some top anglers, Rob Edmunds, Graham Pearson, Ex Scottish captain Jock Kettles, Englands Lindsay Simpson from the soldier palmers let me know if you fancy a go.

Hi Al, I was lucky enough to be invited to fish the Bob Church Classic once in the early 90s.At that time it was guys that had done well in various competitions across the country including the Home Internationals and was purely invitation only.

The criteria might have changed nowadays though.

Orreet fella,

That was my understanding of the comp but there is no clear definition as to how to gain access! It is an early season comp and I would love to mix it up against the best.

Hey up Al

Try emailing the man himself - info@bobchurchfishingtackle.co.uk

I can't imagine him working at the store but they should be able to forward the message for you.

Tight lines Matey
Malcolm

PS - if you're thinking about the england team it's probably only fair to point out at this early stage that the airlines are talking about introducing weight restrictions for international travel

Al,

Its now run by Bob's daughter....

As people have said, its normally the England Team, and the lads who have done well in the major comps over the past year. Dont ask me exactly where you have to place in these comps, but as reserve, i didnt get an invite......LOL

Im down for the other Bob Church match, refered to as the "open" I think, which i understand to be the Northampton fundraiser....but could be wrong.....

Hope this helps in a little way mate...

See you and your pulling arm soon.....

The classic is invitation only i believe. I think anglers from all the international teams receive an invitation and I know that our club receive two invites. It's a match I have been invited to a few times but it has always clashed with other things.
