Unhappy Looks like another split in Ireland

Not sure of the details but it looks like the Trout Angling Federation of Ireland (TAFI) has last night split from the Angling Council of Ireland (ACI). And Also that the Connaught branch (one of it's 4 Provinces) has left TAFI.

Trout Angling Federation of Ireland Split from Angling Council of Ireland | Irelands Coarse Fishing

TAFI withdraws from ACI «

Reading this it appears that there were differences between some members.

Surely in this day and age, anglers should be uniting rather than splitting.

Is this bad news for angling in Ireland. ????

Ahh there's more to this than meets the eye, not only did TAFI split from the ACI, they also are about to have a pretty large internal split ..

It's a pity alright, once again were being dragged through the mud due to paranoia and select anglers opposition towards a licence in this country ...

Surely with the state of the economy in Ireland a tax of fishing was inevitable. They are taxing everything else.

Is this going to be another rod war dispute, like the 80's. Some anglers are still not speaking to each other since that. Or is it just rearing its ugly head again.

Very sad

You certainly don't seem to be doing your bit to create angling harmony outside of your own territory with your SANA posts.

Some form of licence or tag system is on the way, no matter what Tafi want, of course it's possible it may only encompass certain elements of the sport, e.g. Coarse, Pike, Sea, perhaps some trout anglers, NARA may well take it up, altho TAFI do have quite a large pull within IFI, It will be interesting to see how this move effects that power.

And given our current administration i dont see all anglers uniting in any fashion, the problem being, we'd do less arguing and standing about arguing and more fishing.. and that would not be game ball ..

Touche. So you think im trying to split up SANA. Do you honestly think that my posts expressing my opinion on accepting money from a salmon farm, for a comp team, is going to divide anglers. Is your head full of sweety mice If SANA lose support or split because of this salmon farm money, it will be their own doing, it wont be because of my posts on a fishing forum.

Comon now. Do you really want to move the SANA hypocricy discussion over to this thread. Surely thats a seperate matter entirely.

I personally feel that SANA are TOTALLY hypocrital by accepting money for a competition team from a Salmon Farm. Thats my own personal view, thats obviously shared by a lot of anglers (regardless of their territory).

I would love to see ALL anglers singing off the same hymn sheet for the common good of angling, no matter wether its the protection of our migratory fish or the developement of our youth anglers. Simple. Is that too much to ask for. We are all fellow anglers with a common interest. But its obvious that there are seperate agendas for some individuals, in every angling organisation, regardless of territory.

There is more bickering amongst anglers now than ever before. And we have to ask ourselves why. Is it money, power, politics, history. Or a combination of all of those. Would we be better off without Angling organisations And give the clubs more power / control over their local waters. Just a question.

Hello David,Welcome to the forum, 2 lovely anti TAFI posts to get you started, enough about that though, check your source who swore you to secrecy(your facebook comment) 3 organisations out of the 5 not 1 objected to what was been put together and proposed on behalf of anglers so there is a lot more to this than meets the eye and your posts
