Default New national Loch Style team competition

IMPORTANT DATE CHANGE

Please note, the date for the final of this comp has been changed from 9th August to the 13th August due to a clash of dates with the Welsh trials. Venue for final remains unchanged and will be held at Grafham Water.

In addition, there has been a heat change. Arnfield has been removed friom the calender and has been switched to Foremark Res to be fished on 7th June instead.

The following dates have been set for a new national Loch Style team competition for 2008:-

Heats
Llyn Brenig 3rd May
Rutland 17th May
Llandegfed 1st June
Foremark Reservoir 7th June
Bewl 21st June
Stocks Res 18th and 19th June
Loch Leven date tbc

Final
Grafham 13th Aug

Format of comp:-

Teams of 4 anglers
Fished to international rules
Entry fee £80 per team plus fishery fee
Cash prizes awarded at heat stages

There will be an estimated prize fund of £4000. This will be awarded based on the number of teams entering with a targeted grand final prize of £1500 for the winning team.

Keen to make this comp a regular annual event - so spread the word please!

PM me for further details or email mike.lightfoot@rowgar.co.uk

Alternatively, call Ron Ayers directly on 01270 625656 or 01270 812037.

I thought Loch Leven only has 12 boats now. should make an interesting heat. Would it not be better going to a water like Carron Valley? just a thought.

That was my thoughts to, you will be restricted by boats available, if Leven only has twelve boats thats only six teams, mind you it all depends on the interest shown. Maybe better on a venue with more boats.

I'll try to answer all of the questions with one post.......

First of all, I'm not one of the organisers as such. I suggested that they posted on the forum to help get the word out.......and offered myself as a volunteer to do this. I know that Trout Fisherman magazine will also be advertising the comp. so details will also be appearing in the angling press.

The organisers are all members of the Cheshire Hawks team. Their motive for the comp is that they wanted a competition that offered a prize fund that was not capped and was governed by the number of teams entering. The more teams....the bigger the prize fund. I can assure you that this is 100% legitimate and that quite a few well known teams already have their names down to fish.

With regard to Leven, they are considering fishing 2 dates here to ensure that all teams entered at this heat get to fish given the limited boat availability.

No heats in Ireland or on Keilder purely because the comp is in it's first year. They wanted to ensure it was manageable. Providing it's a success for 2008, the idea over the coming years will be to add more venues and dates.

Hope that answers all of you're queries, but please feel free to post or pm me if you have any further questions.
