Looks like the lake fished well today after a couple of tough days. Great performance on Friday from my pairs partner Budso Heffernan, 2 cracking trout in tough conditions for 8.24 pounds.

Fellow Roundstone cowboy men, Basil, Barry and Patrick also made it through along with the sis, so will be able to root for a number of people in the final.

Climbing the reek in the morning to pray for some nice calm weather....another day on the Mullingar Wa*k is not what I would be looking forward to

Its a great fishing comp and with luck been the deciding factor....its a comp that gives everyone a chance and the craic and banter is always good.

To see Tom Ketterick, a man 98 years of age trashing right up to the bitter end for a trout to get him trough is a real inspiration. Oh to have his health in 60 years time

Good luck Seamus, and best of luck to my mate Hooper who has gone across and has qualified as well for the final. Looking forward to seeing the results. Good luck - I hope it fishes well.

Very well done to all the winners. What a tough day on the Lough. 120 anglers and only 11 with fish. A big thanks to my boatman Jimmy Acton, he tried his very best but all in vain. Had some good chances to be in the shake up but nothing would stick

Id say half the anglers never even rose a fish which shows you how hard it was......looking forward to the Ty Nant on Brenig next weekend where the fishing might be a little more active.

Roll on next year.....
