****** ****** ******..... damn damn chuffin bloody hell... etc etc.....

Fantastic day!! I have never 'ever' had a day where I have caught fish averaging 5lbs... and returned doubles and 6 - 7 and 8 lb fish!!!! First 'ever' ressie double and the class and size of fish has to be witnessed... I have been around for a couple of years or so and this place is 'now' the tops for huge fish..... Draycote and Toft Newton for me now if I'm not on the river.....

Ps, Me and Frank came second with 12 trout for 42lbs 4ozs .. no time bonus... we were 'pipped' by a mere 10 ozs It must be some sort of record??

Draycote Open Pairs Competition Top Prize £1000

A fully booked match with fourty eight anglers, many of them England Internationals, battled it out for the Draycote Open Pairs competition and the top rize of £1000. All anglers were greeted with a flat calm and warm sunshine, with Toft Shallows and Rainbow Corner being the preferred places to commence the battle as the anglers searched for the bigger fish.

First to weigh in before 1pm was Stevie Peart and Ryan Faber, who took their 12 fish limit by the Inlet. They were soon followed by Martin Introna and Frank Sumnall who caught there haul along the Hensbrough bank. This pairing also recorded the biggest fish of the day, a cracking 6lb 4oz rainbow, taken on a black cruncher.

1st place Andrew Scott & Julian Hubbard 12 fish 42lb 13 oz

2nd place Martin Introna & Frank Sumnall 12 fish 42lb 4oz

3rd place Graham Pearson & Rob Edmunds 12 fish 40lb 7oz

Biggest Fish, Martin Introna 6lb 4oz rainbow.

48 anglers caught 208 fish giving a rod average of 4.16

To get your chance to win £1000 you can enter our final pairs match of the season on Saturday 9th of October. Telephone the lodge for details

With all due respect the fish quality is a result of a fishery that has been lying untouched for 18 months or so.. i'd say you can thank Keith the previous manager for the fish numbers that are in this fishery.. but good luck to you both the ground work was well and truely done, his boots will take some filling.

Many (95% maybe more) of the fish caught were stockies.... I asked Ifor if he could keep it up and he answered 'YES'.... It will make for even better sport when they 'mend-up' later in the year silversedge.. these were bars of silver but stocked fish.
