Teams are already practising on what I can only call a full flood brown soup of a river. I was at Newbridge yesterday and with the heavy showers we have had recently, it looks as though it will be hard work for everyone on the river during the comp. We might be lucky enough to get a clear spell but it will do nothing for the water clarity. The showers have been torrential at times but get slightly better in the latter part of the evening

Good luck, Gibby and the rest of the boys from Scotland!

Both North Kildare and Clanes' water rarely gets badly affected by the rain - been a member for 6 years now and rain will leave it slightly coloured by but not too high. What does the damage is the artificial flooding from lexlip.

I've seen the water rise by 3 feet in about 15 mins! Sometimes it can go as quick but leaves the water like chocolate and not fishable in the slightest.

Hopefully it will improve for comp.

Paul

Jim,

waiting to hear from one of the stewards I work with but no result yet. Conditions today were abominal with high winds and heavy showers in Kildare. Hope the boys did well.

Update - Scotland had 5 1sts from morning session with 1 blank and Ireland's top man blanked - looks promising for the boys to take the comp - fingers crossed!

Spoke to Gibby on phone. Scotland won, Gibby won overall top rod. Didn't hear anything else. Well done all.
