PitsfordPirate will become famous soon enough
Default English National Qualifiers - Survey of entrants

Within the entry application for the Federation of Midland Fly Fishers heats (Odds & Sods), there is a survey asking for our preferences on the following:
  • Retain 1lb per hour time bonus
  • Increase time bonus to 2lb per hour
  • Weigh limit bag only, no time bonus
  • Catch & release after four fish with bonus points added for each

Well i think this is a step in the right direction Stu. !

Personally i'd opt straight for 4 fish then C + R for points or lb's........ Fortunately i've already got that option at STOCKS.

We definately need to alter things to ensure the more consistant anglers come through into our National Teams !!!!!

Ramming fisheries full of fish............ is totally WRONG imo.......... this also applies outside of National qualifiers..... we need anglers in our National teams..... who they need to sharpen their skills throughout the season........ and they ain't gonna do that baggin early on easy fish !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

The Pirate.
I would go Catch & Release if I thought that all the anglers would treat the fish they are releasing in the correct manner. However, we know this is not always the case so I would retain the 1lb time bonus that we currently use. I feel that the better anglers have been getting through anyway, you just need to look at the results from the last couple of seasons and the names at the top.

So do you feel that the England team hasn't always been the best possible team at the time and some members shouldn't have fished?

I would always prefer C&R as I think that sorts out the better anglers but there seems to be a disappointing trend towards wanting weight only or one pound per hours because that encourages anglers to "pick out" the better fish..................................................yeah, right

Now James, don't go putting word's into peoples mouths please ,

I most certainly feel that there's been times when England havn't had the strength of team that they should have..... and my personal opinion is that the qualifying process need's looking into....... wether that's a two day National Final or points taken from other majors etc.......i don't know.... but the facts are that some anglers can have two good matches and their in the squad !........

Its simple really. Do what the Scots do, they get the strongest teams through season after season.
