You might be better with a floating line and dries for the Lake in May.

Early may they are still on the buzzers. Dont think I was on Either Di-3 or 5 all year on the lake. Leave them at home, your luggage will be lighter

Hi try Lough Ennell or lough owl in the midlands, Lough Lene would not be my first choice for lakes in the midlands. If you really want pratice on your sinking lines for wild trout that live deep all year round then you need to head to Co Wicklow, there is a lake there where the anglers fish nothing but sinking lines all year long.
