Doesn't seem to give anglers much notice!!!
Why don't the events get put on the TAFI site so all can see it.
Well done at Innis hope you found Cornwall welcoming.

Wetfly,

Like Flyonly says, joining TAFI is easy. Why dont you contact the national Secretary via the website.

If you want to affiliate your club to Tafi, I would imagine that you would have to submit a letter to the Ulster Branch or National Branch and be proposed and seconded in the appropriate way.

I would say that if you want to fish this match next Saturday, then your only option, because of the short notice, would be to join Woodford Club who are organising the event. Im sure that you would be very welcome indeed. After all they are trying to attract as many top class anglers as possible to represent Ulster and Ireland.

I agree with Marazion Midge. Perhaps it may have been better to give any anglers who are interested in this comp a bit more time and notice. I mean the International is only over a couple of weeks ago. So why have local qualifiers straight away . I mean Skinny has publicised this match on here just 12 days before it is due to take place. I fish some major comps in Ireland, England & Wales, and I can guarantee you that if the organisers let people know about the comps just 12 days before , they would not have many entries.

Even I have to admit that this Bank match seems to be more popular than first imagined,(fair play to Fred) so surely it would pay to advertise the qualifiers over a longer period of time to try and attract more outside interest.

Only my opinion, but Its perhaps giving the impression that at some places, having "not many entries" might suit some people to give some a better chance of getting on the team, without much opposition.

Surely clubs like Woodford could allow members to join their club for the purposes of fishing this year's competition, until anglers like Wetfly are given enough time to join Tafi in the proper way for the 2011 qualifier.

Im sure that eventually the idea is to have around 100 of the best bank anglers in Ulster fishing a larger venue.

Only a suggestion.

It was always the intention to fish the Provincial Qualifiers over the winter and the Inter-Provincial Bank Final then early in the year to give teams the best chance to prepare for the following Autumn's 4 Nations Bank International. As this years event came upon us very quickly it was not possible to hold the Provincial Qualifiers until August this year and the Inter-Provincials then in September leaving the Irish Team only a month to prepare for the final. Even with these difficulties the Irish team did brilliantly in finishing second and if they had caught one extra trout in the afternoon session they would have actually won the event.

Now with the 1st year out of the way, the qualifiers are taking place over the winter with the Inter-Provincial early next year giving whoever qualifies for the Irish Team ample time to get ready and hopefully next year get a great result in Ireland. There is plenty more interest in this event now, definitely in Leinster where anglers have been out practicing already. Anyone competing must be a member of a TAFI Affiliated Club and I'm sure if Wetfly contacts Woodford he should be able to join up. All Leinster Anglers if they contact their Club Secretary they should be able to fish the Leinster Qualifier. If anyone wishes to fish and is not a member of a club there is a list of Leinster Clubs on the Leinster Website: TafiLeinster

If anyone has any difficulty and wishes to fish the Leinsters then email: Leinsterac@gmail.com

And by the way the official Tafi Website is being updated and hopefully up and running soon.

No worries. That is totally understandable. I was just pointing out that 12 days notice is not much for interested Ulster anglers who were not involved in the qualifiers a few months ago. Unless anglers can join Woodford (or another Club) in the next 12 days, then they will probably miss out, which is a bit sad.

I hope this event grows. Would love to see more than 11 anglers try to qualify for an Ulster Team. There are plenty of great bank venues around Ulster that could hold up to 50 anglers or more on one day.

Thanks for the replies guys. It's a bit too short notice to join a club and fish ulster heat all in the space of 9 days . Might try for it next year . Good luck to all fishing it next week
