Just woundering after reading so much on the competition forums what actually is the selection process at present for TAFI and does it really reflect on our anglers abroad ?
Does anyone relly know or is this all speculation.

Hold on there a min. I asked a question about the Team selection process . I didt not mention the word "Captain" or how they are picked .I konw how they are picked from the meetings . Its the Members that are taking part is what i want to know about and how do they quailify and in what format as i have heard many stories none of which make sense at all.

Hi Wormer, if you are looking for information on the TAFI team selection process IMHO it would make more sense to visit the TAFI website and contact the relevant people on there. At least then your information should be accurate instead of getting opinions and speculation on here.

ub 40s i would be surprised if wormer is not a officer of tafi how any can one go to meetings and agm's and not know the answers to the questions he is asking is beyond me .have a look at his past posts

I thought you’d be fully up to date on how the TAFI Teams are picked for World and European Championships. Anyway, I’ve pulled this from the TAFI Constitution which I would think you are aware of.

The 2008 Interprovincial results are to be used to invite anglers to participate in Irish teams for 2 successive years. The 2009 world team will be selected first followed by the 2009 European team(s). The 2010 teams will then be selected in the same manner. Thereafter the Interprovincials will be qualifiers for 2 years in advance. This is to ensure that each team will have adequate time to prepare for their relevant Championships.

When the World or European Championships are to be fished on lakes, then the Irish team will be picked from the Interprovincial lake championships.

When the World or European Championships area to be fished on rivers, then the Irish team will be picked from the Interprovincial river championships.

When the World or European Championships are to be fished on mixed venues (lakes and river), the Irish team will be selected from the Interprovincial Lake and River Championships in the following manner;

(a). Where a venue contains 4 lake sections and 1 river section the panel will consist of 4 lake and 2 river anglers.

(b). Where a venue contains 3 lake sections and 2 river sections the panel will consist of 3 lake and 3 river anglers.

(c). Where a venue contains 2 lake sections and 3 river sections the panel will consist of 3 lake and 3 river anglers.

(d). Where a venue contains 1 lake section and 4 river sections the panel will consist of 2 lake and 4 river anglers.

So the selection of the team all depends on how many lake and river sections there are in the World or European Championship. The 2011 teams will be picked from the 2009 Inter-Provincial River and Inter-Provincial Lake Championships. The 2012 teams will be picked from this year’s Inter-Provincial River and Lake Championships (2010).

bert you are spot on , all you have stated is correct this was proposed by tafi competition committee and ratified at tafi agm poor old wormer must have been asleep big problem with tafi is too many people sneaking around with hidden agenda's ????????? wait for it

Who's the Chairman of TAFI these days?

That is self explanatory Bert. Don't understand why if wormer is familiar with this why the question and the thread? Why act the Gaubeen. Maybe its a little over my head.
