Default Bolton Fly Tyers 18th May Gwilym Hughes

As part of Bolton Fly Tyers continuing programme of bringing the Best Fly Tyers to demonstrate their skill to us we are pleased to confirm that Gwilym Hughes will be joining us on the 18th of May at 7pm to tie a range of river flies particularly suitable for use on the Welsh Dee and similar rivers.

We meet in the Function Room of The Beehive Pub in Horwich, which has excellent facilities, including projection of the demonstration on to a large screen. There is also ample parking.

The Beehive is on the Junction of the A673 (Chorley New Road) and A6027 and is easily accessed from Junction Six on the M61). For those with Sat-Nav. the Post Code is BL6 4BA.

The meeting is open to Non-Members who will be charged £4.00 for the evening.

Gwilym is Vice President of the Game Angling Instructors Association and in addition to guiding anglers and passing on his vast experience, he 'mentors' would be Game Angling Instructors through to GAIC and APGAI technical qualification in 'Casting and Fishing Techniques.' All this, coupled with his renowned knowledge and skills as a fly tyer and fisherman means this is an evening not to be missed.

Gwilym’s web site, which is well worth a visit, is: Welcome To GwilymHughes.com.

Although only relatively recently formed, the club has already had demonstrations by a number of very well known guest fly tyers and entomologists including Paul Procter, Louis Noble, Phil White, Stuart Crofts, Malcolm Greenhalgh, Stuart Bowdin, Steve Cooper, Alan Bithel, Pat Stevens, and Chris Aldred who is also a member of the club.

We hold our meeting throughout the entire year from 7.00 pm until 9.30pm on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Beginners and visitors are always welcome why not come along?

To all the people from the forum that made the evening with Gwilym Hughes.

I hope you enjoyed what can only be described as oner of the best nights we have had, some great river patterns were tied by Gwilym, along with reasons for their usage and the reasons behind their tying, the details that went into the patterns and the eureka moment, that led to their creation, was well put across and will lead to even more patterns being added to my fly box, as well as to the fly boxes of those that attended last night

Thanks to Gwilym for a great night and I started his book last night, forced myself to stop reading at midnight as I needed to get up work work this morning

A great night had by all and a tier I would thoroughly recommend for any tying club

Chris
