Sigh.

I guess I had better volunteer to fish that stretch regularly to keep an eye out for poachers.

Tough job, but someone's got to do it.

On a serious note if that monofilament with the loops in is heavy stuff there is a good chance someone is dropping nightlines...........

It was heavy mono, I thought the same, perhaps the spent matches were a result of his torch batteries running out, still need to sort the Swedish connection too

I did promise to publish the catch returns from the social:

Grayling 12
Wild Browns 212
Stocked Brown 106

on stocked beats:

wild 82 44%
stocked 106 56%
total 188

I am sure they would have been much higher but for the fact that one of the beats was denied the close attentions of a certain celebrity fishing pair. Apparently the designer camping boutiques of Abergavenny held more appeal for Fly Fishings most well known WAG, much to the disappointment of the assembled paparazzi who had lined the banks of the Monnow at Walterstone in anticipation.

Good to see the stocked beats having a very good head of wild trout. I think that those percentages match the the ratio for past seasons, as a whole, on the two stocked fisheries that keep records.

The catches would also have been higher if some of us had not been so shattered on the Sunday.

Sounds like you all had a fab time, gutted that I couldn't attend myself ah well, there's always next time.

Thanks one and all for sharing the reports and pics from the day, great to read and look at.

Also, great to read that the magical Monnow (+ tribs) are in fine order, and producing some decent catches.

Steff.
