Superb weekend ,fine catering ,fine liquor(local Cider lethal),great company, good organisation, not enough hours in a day .
Sewin man and I fished two beats ,saturday was the tiny Hondhu set in stunning scenery a real small stream five or six pools and odd wee pockets with lots of fly grabbing trees .The weather was mixed and windy seemed to be little hatching ,still managed to winkle a brace on yellow duns ,Morgan had double that fishing NZ style .
These fish were wild ,the wee Agutters cane I robbed Cothi of performed beautifully under the trees the weather turned chilly at around six so we headed of .
There followed a trip to the local where we were greeted by a bar with the lights of a shout of are you open was could be ,we had a couple of Yarlington mills cider which caused me to need to lie down for a while 7.6 ABV.
Napped out and refreshed ,found a drop of Californian red to wash down fine local sirloin steaks ,a drop of port to help the digestion of cheese and buscuits,a night cap of Malt and sleep came easily .
Sunday dawned ,chilly before the sun came up ,massive doses of builders tea serenaded by 20 odd snorers .
The catering team provided us with another fine Welsh or was it English breakfast . breakfast was followed by a breifing for all the rods as to which beat we had drawn for the day ,this strangely took far longer than the previous morning

BTW my monthly intake of Ibuprofen was shared out over the 2 mornings
Morgan and I had drawn the Tregate Anglers beat , the bottom beat car park acess point is hard to find ,still we had some fine driving through some glorious country side ,we did the beat upstream from the bridge as that car park made sense ,near midday by the time we started fishing ,I found my biggest wild fish of the day all of 12 inches but fit as a fiddle this took a may fly tied by Hove who some of you may know as Fleaflicker .
Morgan fishing just above me hooked and almost landded what must have been the biggest fish of the weekend .by then the desire for lunch was strong .Advice for anglers wanting lunch at the pub at the top of this fishery book a day in advance ,the local WI type store produced with home made sausage rolls and a tomatoe plant for my Highbury balcony .
Back to the river ,time running out we walked and fished four or five feilds and these are big feilds ,found the odd riser ,the sun got too us and soporific state ensued ,woken by a splashing rise I waded out ,the mayfly brought fish up missed six or seven till finally a 8 incher swallowed the fly ,this was a stocky ,needed the forceps to release it ,this was a stocky you can tell with these fish as they have blue marks on there bellys .
Morgan awoke and with encouragement joined me in the pool whwere he again hooked and lost afine fish .
Time was against us as he needed to be back in London so we left the river with not a huge catch but having had a most enjoyable day .
Can I book my place for next year
