Just noticed this thread. The AGM had lots of good discussion. Good to see everyone again. The newletter is in preparation, but is looking like it will be too long. It will need some hard editing when all the contributions arrive. P C-S has sent the following text on the Club Social. This has also been forwarded to SPLASH2 for loading onto the website at a convenient opportunity. Please email P C-S to confirm attendance at the social so that we can build some momentum.
Cheers,

Club Social - Saturday 16th May
At the AGM in March the idea of a social was discussed and a trip to Blagdon agreed. So make space in your diary for an enjoyable day at one of England's premier stillwaters with fellow CAA members. Blagdon is a large water with a good head of fish. It can be very challenging but is a beautiful naturalised venue which can respond well to an imitative, nymph or dry fly approach (boobies & lures can also score).
Details:
Date - Sat May 16th.
Fishing - feel free to either fish from the bank or share a Boat.
Members are responsible for buying their own tickets. If you want a boat it's worth booking ahead to avoid disappointment. The boats are good but don't have petrol engines, so you'll either need to supply arm power (fine as long as it's not windy) or arrange for an electric motor.
To hire an electric motor - Blagdon Engine Hire: Andy or Debs, 01761 463211 or 07766 022726
Cost - tickets can be bought at Woodford Lodge (Chew Valley Lake) or from the Lodge at Blagdon itself. Day tickets (bank) is £17.50 (boat, each angler) is £26.00. Concessionary and junior tickets are available at reduced rates.
Itinerary:
Meet for breakfast at Woodford Lodge, Chew Valley Lake from 8.00 am (they provide a good breakfast at a reasonable rate).
Arrive at Blagdon for a 9.30 am start.
Meet up for the weigh-in at the Blagdon Lodge at 8.30 pm. N.B. This will depend to some extent on the conditions. If they're terrible this may be earlier, if excellent (eg the fish are still rising) this may be pushed back. To check on the day, call or text P.
In the interests of being sociable we may also wish to meet up at the lodge or at points around the lake to share our packed lunches around 1-2 pm (normally the slow part of the day anyway). Also, for those boat fishing, it may be a good idea to swap boat partners during the day.
A small prize will be awarded prize for the best basket of trout.
Could those planning to attend please contact P C-S on ......, so that we have an idea of numbers. An indication of expected attendance will be on the club website, so lease indicate whether or not you mind being identified in this way. Also, P. may be able to pair up boat patners.
