On 17th September adventure footwear brand Teva®, will join environmental charity Thames21 for its annual Cleaner Thames Challenge. The initiative is just one of many that Teva undertakes internationally as part of its ongoing commitment to protect global waterways.
From 12.30-15.30 on the 17th September Teva and the Thames21 team will be down on the South side of Kew Bridge in London cleaning up one of the dirtiest stretches of the Thames. Loaded with boots, gloves and socks for over 100 volunteers of all ages Teva and Thames21 hope to clear the build-up of litter and debris along Britain’s longest river. Teva welcome any additional pairs of hands to come along and join in with making their local waterways a more enjoyable place to work, play and live.
About Teva’s Pair for a Foot Campaign
Earlier this year Teva launched their ‘Pair for a Foot’ campaign, an initiative to protect one linear foot of global waterways for every pair
of Teva shoes and sandals sold in 2011 and to date the company has cleaned 700,000 ft.
“The Teva brand was born on the water and we feel a strong obligation to help protect our most precious natural resource,” says Joel Heath, Teva Global Marketing Director. “We’re proud to support organizations that do vital work to protect water for the environment.”
The “Pair for a Foot” program (
www.teva.com/cleanwater) extends Teva’s commitment to clean water and its partnership with Waterkeeper Alliance through 2011 and beyond. “Over the years, we have participated in numerous community river clean-ups with local Waterkeeper chapters. We are excited to be making a deeper, long-term commitment to water with this initiative,” says Heath.
