Foremark Flyfishers are pleased to announce their upcoming winter flyting evenings at our new venue The John Thompson Inn, Ingleby, Derby DE73 7HW
These evenings are free as an introduction to the club, both to get non-tiers up and running, and to get good tiers showing their stuff to others or discovering what they can learn from others.
Week 1 : Monday 22nd November 7 45pm
Wendy Gibson ('Wendy's Flies') will provide a handout covering: Proportions; tools; hooks; the names of the parts of the fly, along with instructions on how to 'tie-on', and use a whip finish and half hitch.
From then onwards the actual fly tying gets under way, using the big TV screen to ensure good vision for all. Wendy has run classes for years and will proceed at a sensible pace, and with one or two helpers no doubt!
The first night will entail tying three basic Buzzer patterns; including an Olive Buzzer, a Pearl Buzzer and a Shipman’s Buzzer
Ray Gibson will take along his ' shop' so any tools and materials people wish to buy will be available at a very reasonable cost. For the new tier it is anticipated some loan tools will be available.
Week 2. Monday 29th November7.45pm
Wendy will demonstrate and cover the tying of Nymphs and Wet Fly patterns, to include a Pheasant Tail Nymph, a Hare's Ear, a Black Pennell and a DDL/Hopper .
Week 3 Monday 6th December 7 45pm
Tying on the third night will focus on general Lures, and will move on to patterns such as the Damsel, Minkie, Zonker and Tadpole.
Week 4 Monday December 13th 7.45pm
Wendy is unavailable but our star club Blob, Booby and lure tiers will be taking over to show their methods and patterns.
