On the 21st of May the Ballina and Cloghans Anglers are holding the Jack McNeely Cup competition from the shores of Lough Conn in Cloghans. Everyone is welcome and people are free to fish with their own partners. Entry fee is €20 with boat and engine and €30 without. All cash prizes and the competition is for the heaviest trout caught on the day. Competition hours from 11-6 with a bit of grub in the local after. Entries to yours truly at 087-9782464.
This should be a good weekend as the comp is an ideal warm up for the Connaught Cup which is been hosted by the club on the very next day the 22nd of May from Cloghans. Entries for the Connaught Cup are through your club secretary's. The Connaught Cup is the first stage of qualifying for next years Irish International teams.
With the Mayfly starting already....it should be a good weekends fishing and there will be plenty of pints and stories to be had in the Lodge on the Sturday night


. There will even be a few Corkonians and Welsh boys on their holidays to add to the occassion


Have never seen the Mayfly as early, with broken weather the lake should fish well in the next few weeks.
