the okumas are probably the best all round reels at this time ,i'll be fishing for the river test grayling with my "Kennet" and its re-shaped line guard in a matter of hours . but i'll also have my fred crouch "true trotter" aerial its 3 3/4" but a beautiful little reel it is.

Chavender

How did you get on with the line guard do anymore work on it since the last posting. How see work?

Default Thanks for the info Lads

Thanks to all who have replied.

My thinking is this

1. Christmas present so I have the money.

2. Tackle tart I have alway loved the spoked look.

3. I've looked at the Crouch Arials, Okumas, Leeds etc.
but they don't look as good. So for the extra, the £225 Heritage £ 235 BJ Lightweight I might as well go for what I think looks the best (Not sure of the lettering on the back it looks like it will rub off though.)

From what I have read of your advice of youngs the Heritage with the detachable line guard which then becomes the Purist is the best bet and this was the way I was leaning. And it British Racing Green.

So thanks for your advice once again.

Hi Interested on how you modified the guard, I took the handles off mine and have spent many a lazy hour trotting away the days.
For the money Ithink the Kennet is an excellent reel.

Regards Rob.

this is how i done it ,its probably easier too go the whole hog and cut 2/3rds off as in the second part .the reel was ok with just the posts taken out but batting the drum was impared .but with the extra 2/3rds removed leaving just the last section of the cage (which just happens too be in a pretty darn good place) left too guard against line slipping over the back.
