Kried is asolubtly right - a disgorger should be mandatory. This is particularly the case for grayling. It's not that you deep hook them but that they are such powerful, wriggly, wiry blighters. Trying to hold them still to get cold, fat fingers on a size sixteen can be a nightmare. With the appropriate tool life is much kinder to you both...

I find Forceps the best option.
