Default Okuma Kennet Or Sheffield

Hi lads

Which would be the better real for trotting the Okuma Kennet Or Sheffield?
The Kennet has the line guard.

Cheers Chris

I find I really need the line guard on my pin.

I'd go for the Sheffield. I find line guards get in the way when palming the spool or doing a wallis cast. I have never found the need for line guards. I even took the snazzy looking guard off my Young's Herritage.

Alas all my pins have gone now as fly fishing has taken front seat.

Sheffield or kennet ???

Not much between them, both are cracking reels! spin forever and both look amazing, very well made.

I didn't like the lineguard on my pin at all, as said by Novice they get in the way a bit.

Sheffield for me

Thanks for the answers lads.

I'm going to use it as a winter greyling trotter.

I can get the Sheffiled for £120 and the Kennet for £99 and can't decide. I suppose if I get the Kennet I can take the line guard off but I still have it.

I'm thinking to pair it with a shakespeare mach 1 13' match travel rod suggested on another thread. But I can't choose

Hi

Pretty sure you cant wallis cast with a line guard

Im a bit rusty now but, and it took me ages to get the hang of it but amazing how far you can cast with a pin when wallis casting

Shop around because you can get the sheffield for £99.99

Have you had a look at the okuma aventa pro ?? just as good as the sheffield imo, maybe not as flashy but still a very very nice pin! will save you a few quid as well

Just a point - if you take the line gaurd off the kennet you will have to saw it off - ouch!!

I'd go for the Sheffield and then you have an excuse for buying another pin.

Sheffield is a stunning reel and I prefer no line guard.

My original purchase was going to be the Aventa Pro, but I just had to have the Sheffield as soon as I held it.

Whilst on this Okuma theme can anybody see the point (for British fishing) of the drag system on the Okuma Trent?

Is it able to be set light enough to reliably act as a 'feathering' drag when trotting to hold-back slightly?

I have a Youngs Rapidex with the little adjuster wheel and NEVER use it anyway...
