I was thinking more of tench not counting between March 15th and June 15th. They always seem to me like they were sort of invented for June 16th, they sort of symbolize it....early morning mist on the water, pinhead bubbles by the lilypads....

Jeff, I agree completely, Tench always symbolised the start of the season for me, my favourite fish, you put it very well, walking across misty fields as it was coming light at 4am, setting up and fishing as the mist clears from the lake

I'm sat in work, damn

I was planning to fish the Wandle in London .......... probably less mist than exhaust fumes. But there I sat in Slough waiting for something that didn't arrive and arguing over something no one will care about.

Is it the curse of every person aging to think there was a golden age. Because that golden age when we fished the 16th for a long day with no cares, meant holidays weren't swallowed by family commitments, work was a trivial matter and £20 in the pocket would provide ample trade with the local publican.

Sighhhhhhh.

Anyway least I can afford all this debt I have ........ almost.
