Ondex spinners are quite cheap and seem to be well thought of.

They can be a bit light though which makes them difficult to cast any distance.

I have aslo done OK on sheakspear spinners for small perch.

Lures are expensive for the most part though, but as other say soft plastics might be the best way to start, cheap and they catch plenty of fish. The storm range are good.

Spinnerbaits are great for pike but I steer clear of the wrapped style eyes you often see on spinnerbaits, far better to try and get the ones with the open, loop back, style eyes.

The problem with the wrapped style eyes is that your line cal slip back into the swap of the wire when casting and the snap you up as the line gets weakened from getting worn down. This never happens with the open eye style spinnerbaits.
