How big is the pond? feet or acres?

Its easy enough to get Koi to hand tame but that's not going to work on a five acre pond.

i rekon trout would go for dog buscuits, they know food when they see it! plus they might be a little big for them.
id say target them with small dries, atleast you have a slightly better chance of selecting them.
maybe even floating maggot would work on a light float outfit

I think that koi carps are bigger than trouts. So use net with holes big enough that trouts can escape.

If the koi aren't tackle shy then try a Marabou Bread fly... spin some white marabou around a hook and tease it out a little so it's a fuzzy ball of fluff.

Sight cast to the koi and you're virtually guaranteed a take. Anything that you're likely to be using as bait for the carp will catch you trout, sight casting is more or less the only option unless you fancy netting the place.

Cheers,

Donkey chokers!........What about trying 28mm halibut pellets - success will depend on a) the size of trout present and whether they could take one of these pellets on with any degree of success and b) the size of the koi present and whether they could managed to take one. Could be worth a try, especially if you feed with smaller pellets which, hopefully, the trout will take for prefence.
You will need to drill the hookbaits and fish them on a hair rig. Depending on whether koi and trout can be brought to the top via loose feeding or whether the loose fed pellets are allowed to fall to the bed of the pond will dictate whether you need to suspend the pellet under a (quite substantial) float or whether you need to lay the bait on the bottom for the carp to pick up. If the pond is stuffed with fish thenit is likely that as soon as the pellets go in there will be fish all over the place right up in the water and you should fish very shallow. If you can't get the BIG halibut pellets, then a huge gob of pellet paste may do as a substitute. Targetted casting may also help select the koi - at least they are highly visible........................... This sounds like a laugh - please post a description of what happens when you give it a try. heh heh
