Was interesting to watch Steve but i personally think it does a dis-service to the guys that hunt Carp on fly as we would hunt trout, i have caught carp on fly and sight fishing to them is very difficult,i think chumming the water to catch them is not really good sport, i also think the tackle used was over kill a 5/6# is plenty with a floating line and 3x/2x tippet is also adequate unless you know there are big monsters lurking in the deep I caught this one on a white leech.http://www.flytalk.co.za/forum/album...pictureid=1228

Cheers Nick

'Sight fishing' (fly rods) for carp is quite common in our warmer weather States.

Hi SteveC

Thanks for sharing

One of the videos is called "Frank catches a 20lb carp on the fly"

http://www.visionflyfishing.co.uk/carp-on-fly.html

A large carp is indeed landed on the fly, at which point Frank sticks a great big hook through it's mush so he can weight it.

Not what I would expect from the Vision website!

Alex

This is a great article if you are interested in fly fishing for carp properly.

This is a good thread but should be moved to "Fly-Fishing For Other Species". The Classic Coarse fishing section is really for bait fishing.
