I dusted off the trotting rod on Sunday for the first trip to the Kennet this season. Ended up with 5 chub for 19.5lbs and about 10-12lbs of nice roach and dace. Lost a much bigger chub as well - there's only so much you can expect of 3lb fluorocarbon! However, I know where he lives and next time we'll see how he fancies a bit of luncheon meat on a size 8 instead of two maggots on a 16. There's a few hefty perch there as well which I need to look for so an interesting winter lies ahead.

Sooooo jealous! I really miss being able to nip to the river and catch chub, barbel, roach and dace....if i turned up onto my local river with trotting gear i would be thrown in the river and a foot placed on my head until i stipped struggling
