Default Good start to the new year

Despite all the high winds and high river levels of late, managed a chub of 3lbs and a Barbel of 3 1/2lbs off the lower Wharfe yesterday. Not numerous in number and not giants but very satisfying all the same for my first foray of 2012. They fell to the classic baits, bread crust for the Chub and Meat for the Barbel. Not a soul on the bank even with these the mild conditions

Thanks PP - sorry no Pics, I did have my camera but usually don't take a snap unless its a bit of a personal best fish. The weights were estimates also, I did have scales, but because they were std size fish, in the interests of their welfare I like to get them back quick, easier for me and better for them. Saying that I did rest the Barbel for 5 - 10 minutes in the landing net before releasing him/ her.
