I really don't like open faced fixed spools for trotting. Closed face fixed spool for efficiency, centrepin for enjoyment.

I don't bother with the drag either. I also picked up one of the wide spool versions recently - lovely reels

Just looks like a blinged-up and overpriced Aventa/Sheffield/Trent Can't see how its performance would be any better so just paying for the modern design look?. Can't see it being a big seller either as part of the attraction with 'pins is the classic/retro look.

Looks like a resounding thumbs up for this particular Okuma offering then

Although I already have two Sheffields and an Aventa Pro, I kinda prefer the more retro looking bearing pins, hence my two J W Youngs.

Am sure the 'Raw II' will sell, although won't be long until they are heavily discounted methinks.

Just wish I managed to pick up a Trent when that last happened.

If you've already got 2 Sheffields and an Aventa then you've already got the Trent mate, or did you just want the pretty colour?

Before I gave up match/coarse fishing like Bruce I always used the Daiwa autos as well.Got them after reading a Keith Arthur article on them and prefered them to the Abu closed face reels.Never fished with a pin though and I doubt that I would use the Okuma.

Why? the Okuma Adventa pro is one of the best workhorse pins on the market having none of the faults of the Sheffield,Trent,Kennet,or indeed the version under discussion.

I quite like the look of it... but i do think the price is a touch steep, if you fncy a modern looking pin have you looked at the offerings from Ross ??

i seem to recall it being called the Ross Flow...
