If you feel that you have to use a whip.then Ron Thompson do a 3m one for about a £10'er.seems to be very reliable for small roach/perch.

Thanks Jim, I have restricted use in my fingers and my eyes are getting worse but I still have the urge to fish and if I keep things simple so much the better. Cheers, Phil.

Depends on how wide the stream is!
There are loads to choose from. Telescopic or put over. As Jim posted, they start around £10, maybe even cheaper, depends on length. At 3 meters you don't need expensive carbon and should be light enough to use all day.

How wide is this brook, and what are you targeting ?

Whips by nature use very delicate and fine presentation, maybe not ideal if your eyes are not so good, and fingers are a bit clumsy?

The stretch I fish is approx 12 ft in width with a good cross section of course fish and small stocked Trout. My mince pie problem is close up work ,distance is for now alright. I enjoy angling for silver fish. Cheers, Phil.

I use one for targeting dace on the Tees when conditions are ideal its a joy to use, you can knock up a decent weight in no time.
For fish less than say 10oz great fun

I bought both mine off eBay, one (3m) was £7 plus £2.50 postage, then later on I bought one (5m) for £8.90 with free P&P!

They are easy to use and very effective for Czech nymphing where wading is not allowed. Prior to the whips I used a garden cane for Czech nymphing, which is the same as a whip only shorter (and a lot cheaper).
