Default Pike, shads and trebles

I'm going to have a go at some Pike fly fishing but as a back-up (and to give my arm a rest) I'm taking a spinning rod and have bought some shads. One set of them has trebles fitted under the belly of the shad, if I was sea fishing I would usually remove these to stop them getting jammed in the seabed. Is it advisable to remove them for Piking? All help and opinions gratefully received.

Are these soft rubber shads or plugs? All the shads and minnows I've had just have one or two big single hooks in them?

They are the Storm soft shads in Perch and come with a treble fitted to the belly

No idea then! I don't think I would bother removing them unless it turned out to be a problem. I use 20lb braid on my spinning kit, so I can usually pull out of snags or straighten the hooks.

Ok thanks for that Steve, I also have 20lb braid on my spinning reels it's just for salty fishing these trebles would always be removed. I'll leave them on for the moment and see how I get on.

Do they have a trailing treble and an under body treble? I usually remove one or the other if lure fishing for pike (a rarity these days, but as you say, gives the arm a rest, and a good backup for an impossible fly cast). IMO 6 hooks on a lure is ridiculously excessive for a fish that is to be returned.

More often than not, I'll cut off one hook from the treble underneath (you can usually see which one has been soldered one) and remove the trailer altogether.

As you prob know, a pike will almost always hit a lure side on, so a mid lure double hook will almost always result in a hookup per proper pike hit

Cheers, I decided to remove the trailing treble completely in the end and just fish them with the top protruding hook
