A word to the wise. Be careful with the knurled nut and screw on the backplate that holds the reel together, keep it done up tight and check it carefully and often during a day's fishing.

And before you ask - yes I was that soldier, at Barton Court fishery some years ago. I was able to get a spare from Arnold's so no long term harm resulted, but losing it cut the days fishing short.

That said, they are nice reels, good luck with it.

i have just done a bit of a round robin with line etc ... whilst the kingpins is beautifully engineered it is heavier than the cortesi.. i will give it a fair go but i think i might end up selling it on or trading it for something lighter i had a play with an olkuma today in a tackle shop... plesantly surprised at the quality

I've got a couple of Okumas, my first was a #7/8 fly reel free with a subscription to T&S a few years back. I was so pleased with the build quality I now have five reels various. They may be a little on the heavy side but I rate them..................birdsnest
