Looks like one screw to me Richard, if you buy it, and you don't want the line guard, I will happily take it off your hands, for my Cortesi, which I might add is just as nice as my Okuma Sheffield.

Think you'll find the line guard is actually extra, so yes its removable, or rather wouldn't actually come with one to start with (I don't like line guards either). Chapmans also doing it at the same price, the line guard is £14.99 extra. Agree, the RRP is a joke but it looks a v good reel at the reduced price.

Yeh it doesn't come with the line guard as standard, it's an extra.

Still, not a bad deal, seen one up close and they look decent enough made.
