Happily managed to bag my first ever chub on the fly last night. In fact, my first ever chub altogether! Very difficult roll-casting with a *4 from a steep and overgrown bank into the shelter of a broken willow near the far bank of a local river. They enjoyed s14 gold-head PTN and didn’t seem at all spooky, although one that I only managed to ***** bolted like a gunshot. Apologies for the photo quality but I was shaking, especially after the battle with the first one which was about 4.5” across the shoulders. It didn’t half want to get under the tree and I was on 4lb tippet! Great fun.
Tight lines!
