Default J W Young Bob James and John Wilson Heritage Centre Pins

Anybody know the marked difference between these two pins?

Appreciate the BJ is a tad lighter and the Heritage has a line guard but apart from that can't see what other differences there may be in engineering.

The John Wilson Heritage is a narrow drum like the original match aerials
The Bob James is a wide drum reel without a line guard made for wallis casting.
There both nice reels I have had them all at one point.

the okuma

There is very little between the two. If you take the line guard off.
PM me I may have some thing for you?

Really?

Which one?

I have the Sheffield and Aventa Pro, love 'em both, prefer the Sheffield though but the tackle tart within has drawn me to purchase a JW Young within my budget, mate has the John Wilson which is very good but I had my eye on the Bob James, although specifically designed for Wallis casting which I admit I don't normally do, however I suppose it could always be another string to my bow.

Edit: Crikey, I know what's gonna happen now, I'll end up buying a Kennet just to make it three Okumas and satisfy my addiction.

I have the BJ lightweight and i love it.
I would not think there will be much difference between the JW and JB reels.

I thought about the lightweight version but considered it may be too lightweight, I prefer a bit of beef down at the handle.

Think am gonna go for the standard BJ model.

Was only kidding about getting a Kennet though, that fixed line guard would really do ma nips in.

don't buy a Kennet ,if you have a sheffield ,its not worth it .the line guard on the kennet is intrusive if you bat the drum too retrieve line ,and its fixed and can't be removed (unless your prepaired too cut it off) performance wise its on par with your sheffield and looks wise is no better looking .

i have a kennet ,well more like 90% of one ,as i took a dremal / hacksaw too mine ,and modified the line guard a little Here

i'm just getting into a final stage of conversion .too remove all remnants of the old line guard , and make a new wire cage for it ,thats removable .

then i'll probably be bored with it ,and sell it on ,if i don't use it much .

I also own a heritage ,possibly the second best centrepin youngs have ever made (in recent times) and its comes in british fishing green ,the second best colour for centrepins .i have used a bj lightweight and didn't find it anything special in the wally casting stakes as i could cast my heritage just as far .

HA ha ,just a little centrepin humour for you

Default J W Young pins

Went for the standard Bob James version, picked one up second hand mint for £120.00 posted so am not complaining, a used Heritage went on ebay yesterday for £160.00 posted.

Roll on June!

Until then, it's stockie bashing for me.
