Default Beeston Canal - London Road

Hi,
I'm about ready to try and get out fishing after another lengthy bout of illness. I'm thinking about trying some lure fishing on the Beeston Canal in Nottingham ( a bit of urban fishing!). Does anyone know who controls the fishing on London Road? I'm under the impression it contains zander and has some good pike fishing as well as perch. I'm gagging to get out and try my ultra light set up with jelly grubs and jigs for perch and zander!

Hi,
as bit late i know, but it might come up on search for someone...
The canal along london road is on the book of the Nottingham & District Federation of Angling Societies. a cheap club to join, however, my understanding is that that stretch can be fished on a day ticket, which can be purchased on the bank (towpath).
Well i say can be purchased on the bank, Ive fished it plenty of times and have not yet seen a bailiff so it is sort of free fishing.

It has a very good population of fast biting bleak and roach - a decent challenge hitting the bites on light float tackle. there are also plenty of perch, some bream and Ive seen chub caught.

The zander i know about reputedly come from the section just "upstream" (yes, you can trot this canal) of the London Rd bridge, behind the new hotel complex and Capital one building. The bad news is that they are small and have been caught on maggot. Ive not had a zander here yet.

Its a bit urban & i'm not sure id fancy it after dark on my own - but it is a reliable place to go and pick up some bits - im using it as a training ground for the two "apprenctices" i'm showing the ropes to. It reliable for bites, I even caught there with snow on the ground during the real cold snap in December
