I trotted redworm with a centrepin(Adcocks Stanton) and a 25 year old Shakespeare carbon 12' float rod.I caught grayling of 1-4, 1-5 1-6 and 1-12; lost 2 of similar size and a little one of 6-8oz. Wonderful antidote to Christmas- saw a buzzard , dipper and kingfisher- and the fish all pulled like donkeys. Dreadful icing up problems with rod rings- ended up solid every other cast- any cure ? Reel froze solid at one point too. Managed to wade over the top of my Aigle neoprene wellies but feet stayed warm all day. Boxing Day is always good to me - I caught my biggest chiub 4 years ago to the day and have rarely had a bad day- but today was one of the best...

Grayson........ glycerine helps albeit you may have to repeatedly "coat" the rings eyes throughout the day , get a bottle from your local chemists, and the easiest way i found of doing it was to get an old nail varnish bottle with a brush in the lid, clean it out thoroughly with nail varnish remover, the pour in your glycerine and then just wipe the eyes with the brush ,small enough to go in any pocket
