Exclamation Boatmen needed for the Youth National & International @ Grafham...Please!

Hi all,

The EYFA are desperatley in need of boat men for the following events.

England Youth National Championships - 4th July - Grafham Water.

Youth International - 28th July - Grafham Water

We need 28 boatmen for the International and at present are really struggling.

All boatmen at the International get an invite to the Gala Dinner that follows the event.......that would be enough to get me there!!

If you can help, please send me a PM.

Thanks for looking.

Sorry Phil can't do either of those dates, however if Kieron is still tying those superb flies I'll have £20 of tequila blobbies.

Hope it helps a little.

Best wishes see you Sunday

Andy

I maybe being a bit thick here but can you educate me in what does a boatman do in these competitions? And what qualifications are necessary?

Cheers

Hi Loopy,

No qualifications needed. You just need to supervise two lads in a boat for the duration of the comp.......10am - 5pm.

Because they are under 18 years of age, they can't be left alone in a boat.

There are prizes for the top boatman.....(the boat that comes back with the overall best result).

If anyone can help, we would be really gratefull as numbers are coming up seriously short at the moment.

Thanks.

Hi Martin,

Not my area that.....however, we do have a chap looking after the CRB side of things. As i understand it, and i may be wrong, they have to fill in a self decloration form either beforehand or on the day.......I'll check and post with my findings.

Would be great if you could help.

So as a boatman do they sit in the middle of the boat?

Do the boatmen control the boat by engine, rudder, drogue etc?

Are the boatmen responsible for anchoring?

Are the boatmen responsible for any rules and regs?

Loopy as I understand it, you sit in the middle and watch the lads catch fish, that's it no more no less. Now get your name down man

As knowledge of the international rules would be useful....but certainly not essential. Most of the lads are happy to drive the boat. You may have to bring the drogue after each drift.......that's it!
