Default Macmillan - Flyfishing support by Chatton Ladies teams

Hi all

Chatton Trout Fishery has raised two teams of four female flyfishers to enter The Big Fish at Derwent Reservoir this coming weekend and we need your good wishes and support for this slightly mad but good-humoured outing.

We have all been gathering funds for Macmillan privately but there is a JustGiving page too: http://www.justgiving.com/Anne-woodcock/ in case anyone would like to add something.

One of our teams competed last year too and raised a goodly sum, but times are harder now for everyone. Every little helps.

Wish us luck!

Trish

Thumbs up Ladies Fishing for the Big Fish

Hi Trish and the ladies

Ladies, I’m delighted to hear you’re taking part in the Macmillan Big Fish day this coming Sunday. Having met most of you, if success were measured by enthusiasm then you’re all winners.

Good luck and the tight lines, but most importantly, have fun.

The very best of luck to all you ladies this weekend...

I would like to sponsor you and your two teams if that's ok? If you can post how many fish were caught by your two teams or PM me after the event.
I propose a £1 per fish caught, to be my donation amount. Sorry it may not sound a lot, but funds are quite tight at present. In the very unlikely event your teams blank which I very much doubt, I will make a donation via the link you have posted above.

Again, the very best of luck to you all. Enjoy and have fun.

Woz.

Thanks Woz - no pressure then!!!

We'll all try our very best. So good to have your support - it will spur us on in the last hour when casting arms are feeling the strain.

Will definitely let you know how we get on

Default Ladies Fishing

Hi Ladies

Message from Chris Tarrant
I was recently passed an email of your regarding the Macmillan Big Fish event.

Chris has asked me to pass on this message:

This is a fantastic idea. I hope all the girls have a brilliant day’s fishing. Anything to help the Macmillan nurses has got to be worth doing.

The work the nurses do day after day, year after year is wonderful. They really are angels. Good luck to all.

Chris Tarrant and all of us on the MILLIONAIRE team.

Go Ladies x

Well tell the Ladies to just go out and enjoy themselves as a relaxed angler always fishes better and remember you have the Pheromones on you side.

Put a weighted fly on the point line a gold head damsel-cats-viva ( just keep changing the colors)

If you can use 2 lies then something bushy that will make a wake as you bring it up to the surface like a dabbler

Anne "glad you were listening fish all the water in front of you and keep moving as you need to find a fish "

Thank you Hywel for your kind words

Message from Ian Gordon Hardy Greys Academy.
I have to say, I am a big fan of everyone enjoying the wonderful sport of Fly-Fishing.

It is fantastically encouraging to see and hear of more ladies fishing our waters. As with every other sport, it is enhanced greatly by their participation. One slight worry I have - Is, you ladies are so competitive, add this to your ability to multi task and it will put some of the boys under a little pressure.

Please pass on my very best to the "Chatton Ladies" and wish them the best of luck next weekend. Although I'm sure they will not need it.

Come on the Girls!!!

Thank you Ian Gordon

“Ok Ladies.....go get those trout. Terrify them: make them submit to your will...when that doesn’t work....just charm them...you know that you can!

Anyway, the day is bigger than the capture. Enjoy, and know you are doing, just a fantastic job for people who are in need. You can do no finer thing...bless you.”

Charles Jardine

thank you Charles Jardine from the ladies

Hmm, very kind of you all!

The day will need to be bigger than the catch, that's for sure

And another encouraging message has come in:

Dear Ladies,

Tight lines for your big day on Sunday. It is so pleasing that you have embarked on a flyfishing adventure which will reward you for life. That you are using your skills for a cause dedicated that is so important, is heart warming. This message is from me and the Salmon & Trout Association.

I am delighted to make a personal donation.

This is all very well but ... here's another

"Great to see ladies becoming more involved in what has been perceived for
many years as a male dominated sport, especially to see those ladies taking part who have not been fishing for long.

Chatton has done a great job in raising two teams for the competition, well done. Fly fishing brings together people of all abilities and challenging lifestyles with a common interest creating a wonderful camaraderie.

The very best of luck for the Chatton Ladies teams this weekend at Derwent reservoir.

Warmest regards from

Paul Little "

Paul, I'm sure we all appreciate this support from you highflying flyfishing gurus. If only we'd had your tying lectures BEFORE we went to Derwent!

Default Fishing at Derwent Reservoir

Hi all and Woz - just back from Derwent, weather-beaten is the word. The wind was so strong that even the baitfishers weren't catching much, water thick with silt all around the shore and the final scores were not good! Mostly, the sun shone.

We tried everywhere - into the wind, with the wind behind us, from rocks, from shore, wading, cat's whiskers, black lures, MFF's tufties, Consett Budgies, all sorts of weird and wonderful lures and flies. We stomped around the reservoir in our waders, from bay to bay, still there was no respite from the wind. Some had takes, some thought they might have had offers, others felt nothing at all, and one poor man lost a fish when it cleared the water and snapped the leader, and those who were watching swore it was about 3ft long.

But we raised lots of money, raised a glass or two to celebrate the end of fishing at 4pm, and had a good laugh at ourselves for trying the impossible. We went our separate ways, knowing the good cause had been supported and saying 'Never again! Well, 'til next year'.

Trish
