Default 4 fish, 4 countries in 24hrs

4 fish, 4 countries in 24hrs on a motorbike- can it be done?

Thinking of a fundraiser for next year and was wondering if anyone had tried this.

My idea would be to start in Ireland near Belfast, catch the ferry to scotland and fish near stranraer. ride south and fish an english water before heading home and fishing somehwere inside the Welsh border.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has tried it.

many thanks

I'm sure I've this done in one of the fishing mags a few years ago but there's nothing to stop you doing it again for a good cause.

It's probably been done before, I think that Matt Hayes done something like that with coarse fish.It will cost you a right few quid for 4 fish or even worse 4 blanks in 4 countries Good luck if you try it m8

Are you the sort of fisherman who can pack up and get on your bike the minute you land your first fish?

Good luck with it and don't do it in August.

Hi junkie,

I think its worth a go. There's enough guys on here to help you in each country. In fact you would not even have to carry a rod, someone could meet you at each venue ready with a rod and let you choose the fly.

Done right with good media coverage the fisheries should be queuing up to let you fish for the publicity alone. If you could get press of TV coverage then the fisheries might chuck in a few extra fish to help you put.

Work permitting count me in to help on the welsh leg.

Cheers.

Andy

Thanks for the info gents.

It's still in the early stages at the moment but it's something I'm thinking of attempting next year.

I help organise a charity motorbike rideout every year raising money for the wales air ambulance - we usually raise around £10k per year but things have started to go quiet for the last 2 years so we're thinking of giving it a miss next year (so that people realise what their missing!!!) and re-start it in 2011. that means I've got next year to give this idea a go.

I'm going to look into it a bit more this week and see if it can be done.

I think I've got my english and welsh venues sorted (in my head)
but could anyone suggest a Irish and Scottish venue? The irish venue needs to be fairly close to the ferry terminal and the scottish venue on my route south to keep the travelling time to a minimum.

thanks again people. all info appreciated.

if you want a stillwater your not short of choice.... If your filming or taking photos then i would recommend a slightly bigger fishery so it would look nicer.

Best option in my opinion would be Straid fishery, Ballyclare which is 15-20mins from belfast. Natural lake of 17 acres and nice surroundings. Can take the boat out and you can catch rainbow/browns.

You could also try woodford fly fishery in carrickfergus (about 15mins from belfast)

visit www.flyfishingireland.org- will get lots of willing fishermen there to help you with the belfast leg. MAybe a few scottish ones too

Tell you what. It would make a fantastic charity fundraiser. Why not 4 fish by 4 anglers in 4 countries?... team event?... Now that would be fun eh? Imagine them all chasing eachother around... each angler 'has' to catch his own fish... reccon Sky TV would love to cover it eh?... anyone up for it??

Ps, we are talking trout here are we?
