Default CHAS Fundraising Competition at the Lake of Menteith

This year’s charity fundraising competition for the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) is taking place at the Lake of Menteith on Tuesday 21st October.

Last year’s event was a great success and thanks to the hard-work and generosity of the organisers, sponsors and fundraisers, £5255 was raised for the charity.

This year, 25% of the proceeds will go to the Menteith Cormorants which is the Lake’s club for 9-16 year olds. This club does a great job in supporting and encouraging the development of young anglers. The remainder of the proceeds will go to CHAS.

This is a fun competition and you don’t have to be a seasoned competition angler to take part. There are some superb prizes on offer and every angler is automatically entered into the raffle so even if you have a bad day on the water, you could still win a great prize. The top three prizes are;

1st - £300
2nd – A Gallon of Whisky
3rd – A Fly-Rod

To enter, you need to raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship and pay your share of the boat (£20) - there is no additional entry fee. Official Sponsor Forms can be obtained from organiser Kevin McCabe or from Quint or Douglas at the Lake (contact details below).

If you are not able to participate but would like to support the event and CHAS, donations of either cash or prizes would be greatly appreciated. We have set-up a just-giving page to make it simple for people who just want to make a small donation to support CHAS;

There are places left - just contact Kevin or Quint using the details provided.

It should be a good day as Quint is planning on taking the cages and exclusion rope away the night before so there's a good chance that someone will connect with one of the monsters that live in that part of the Lake.

I've seen Douglas feeding them from the gantry that runs around the cages and there are fish in there that are significantly bigger than the current record of 17lb 12oz!!!

Well lads a great day at lake was had by all yesterday in the CHAS day comp ,Weather was not that bad and fish were playing ""for some"" ,Jim Mc Bride won it with 16 fish,Scott Possi 2cd 16 fish ,Jane Wright 3rd ,The raffle had to be seen to believe must have been in excess of 60 prizes from rods to lines,JC capes,Bottles ,nylon,Hats,Nets,All i can say down about the day was that there were still BOATS left on the shore,I hope next year that all boats are taken for this worthwhile cause ,The day raised over £6000 for CHAS and the Mentieth Cormorants 75% going to CHAS 25% to Cormorants,I must also give a BIG HAND to Kevin McCabe for all the effort he puts into running this Fun Day out also to Ian Coutts who raised £840 sponsership a brilliant effort,and to Quint and Douglas who ventured out on the lake to try and catch a few,And Campbell "alias Camshy"" who caught the Biggest troot 6lb 9oz ,
So come on Anglers of Scotland lets back this Charity Day next season even with the threat of recession over our heads
