Marans South lake greated Paul and i with flat calm conditions and remained as such throughout the afternoon.
With a few fish topping buzzers & dry fly tactics looked promising.... but with only a couple of fish coming to the buzzer and nothing to dries we began to work through the front line methods, again with minimal results, just the odd fish.
We'd spotted a particular trout topping which choose to ignore a number of offerings, the rest of the lake was placed on standby whilst Paul set out to address this fussy bow. Redefining his rig to a size 18 river shuttle and 3lb tippet soon set this record straight.
The days conditions were good in that it presented us with an ideal situation to show how to adapt and keep catching, with the help of a couple of useful flies

we ended up landing around 20 hard fighting rainbows in a difficult afternoon session were most other anglers struggled.
