Default Train of Hope for CLIC Sargent

Hello Guys

I was very reluctant to ask about putting this on here due to people being scammed. I then thought why should children with cancer suffer as a result of others scamming.

The owner of the site has kindly give me permission to let you know what I am organising for next year!

Here is a copy of my begging letter.

Dear Sir Or Madam,
I am one of Five Virgin Train drivers based at Manchester Piccadilly. We have started a project to raise money for the CLIC Sargent a children's cancer charity.
The web site is: CLIC Sargent - Caring for Children and Young People with Cancer : Home enclosed is a copy of my letter of authority from CLIC Sargent this has the registered charity number for your information.
We are calling our fund raising project Train of Hope and our web site is: Train of Hope , Please do take a moment to have a Browse.
The money will be raised in 3 ways; first a special steam train will run 1st October 2011, Pete Waterman will be there to “whistle” the train off. A brass band is to play on the Platform as we board. There will be First class dining for all of the passengers. The second is to hold online auctions running throughout the year, and the third is a raffle.
We are hoping to raise over £40,000 from the train alone and more from the other 2 events.
We are asking if you would be willing to donate something that we can auction online or add to our raffle prize list. We are seeking your support in any way possible.
So far we have had some great response, Stagecoach have made a large financial donation to help kick start the event. Network Rail has granted free track access. We have a commissioned an oil painting being done by John Cowley. Ian Allan publishing have donated a limited edition print plus offered advertising space in their many rail magazines. ASLEF The Train Drivers Trade Union Has Donated A Limited Edition Item Of Memorabilia, Virgin Trains have Kindly Donated a Day on The Driver Training Simulator, The Royal Air Force has donated a number of collectable Items, Best Western Hotels have Donated a Accommodation / Meal Break for 2 and More Pledges have been forthcoming.
Items donated for auction when listed will be linked to the web site so you can see how much was raised from your donation.
The web site has a section thanking all those who have helped with links to the relevant web sites for the people or companies.
We are happy to use your company logos or names on our advertising material. This will include our website, radio, newspapers, magazines plus our own printed material such as posters, leaflets, raffle tickets, train tickets, menu cards etc.
We will be happy to accept any terms and conditions you have. Please let us know if you would like as much advertising as possible.

All accounts will be available at the end of this project to anyone that would like a copy.
We will be giving a cheque to CLIC Sargent when all the events have finished. All the money we raise will be give to CLIC Sargent, nothing will be take out in the way of personal expenses, the only money not going to CLIC Sargent is money used to pay for the web site, advertising, printing costs, Even these costs we are hoping to get free as donations from the companies we will use.
We look forward to your reply and support.

Sounds a great cause John, I will send you some furled leaders for the raffle.
Good luck with it, and well done for stepping up to the mark.

Hi

I have just managed to add a paypal donation button to the website

If every company I emailed/wrote to donated £1 we would do rather well for children with cancer.

If every member on here donated £1 we would do exceptionaly well

Thank you

Now I need to try and get 400 bottles of wine cheap! For the excursion.

Regards John
