Thumbs up Which is the better grip for target casting?

Hi, Iv'e seen several film clips, showing different grips used for target casting. In some cases, these people are very accurate, though not all use the same grip. For instance, a few suggest the forefinger on top as if pointing, while others say use what you usually fish with. Is there a better grip style?

Regards

A good question. I've gone back to a conventional grip, including some very small cork handles, for my brook fishing and general accuracy messing about.

OK. The fore/index finger grip sounds good in theory, but only if you don't cast much. It messed up my trigger finger; it is probably flawed.
I think practice makes perfect using just the one grip... get used to it.

If its with an over head cast i tend to use the index finger, But i think its a mind game more than anything.( 'oh the fingers up were in accuracy mode').
But what does make a real difference to me is bringing my hand up to my nose .... like a darts player.

Smudger, I don't mean to sound too obvious but you have answered your own question.
"In some cases, these people are very accurate, though not all use the same grip."

The answer is which ever grip you are most comfortable with and gives you the most control of the rod tip. As with a lot of things to do with casting such as rod and line choice, balance ect, it is a personal thing. Experiment a little find what suites you and that will be the best (for you).
