Default Casting Lessons with Chris Aldred

Hi

Just had a lesson with Chris Aldred from the forums and was very impressed. Not only would I recommend lessons to newbies in general, but I would highly recommend Chris as an instructor;the only criticism is that he supports Liverpool FC.

I thought I was getting half decent at casting until I saw him efforlessly flicking line out and realised I was actually sh*t at everything. I took up fly fishing to de stress but was actually finding it more stressfull not being able to cast!!!

I had picked up lots of bad habits and was doing things that I thought were correct but were actually fundamentally wrong. He showed me that less actually means more and I can't believe that I was putting far too much effort into casting.
After a few casts he could see where I was going wrong and put me right. Not only did he tell me what I was doing wrong but patiently explained casting mechanics - arcs etc and how this relates to tight/open loops etc - something which I had never really bothered about but made loads of sense. I wish I had done it ages ago and reckon fishing will be much more pleasurable and I might spend more time unhooking trout rather than bushes and other people etc.

I have watched hundreds of you tube vidoes on casting but nothing compares to a lesson with an instructor.

Will be back for some double hauling lessons once I feel confident.

Time well spent!!
