Default Casting tuition N. Ireland

Hi, does anyone know where offers GOOD casting tuition in N.Ireland? I live in L'derry and Belfast so somewhere near either of those would be good.

I am casting a 9ft Shakespeare O-Series 6/7 rod, loaded with Airflo WF7 floating line.

The first problem I am finding is that I have difficulty shooting a nice long straight cast without it landing on the water in a mess. Unlike other anglers who seem to be effortlessly flick out a nice long straight line, it seems to take me more effort and the line lands a bit "haphazard" on the water.

The second problem I am finding is that sometimes I hit the fly with the fly line, particularly when I try to use more of the action in the rod to cast and less of my own arm movement.

I am aware I am casting quite a cheap rod, I don't think it cost more than 20-30 quid a few years back. I just want to know whether it's the rods fault or mine!

You should get yourself along to Moorbrook Fishery at Castlerock ,there is normally a qualified instructor on site ,or they will be able to arrange one for you ,Stevie Munn (irishangler) on this site is an angling instructor and should be able to help you .

Hi

I would recommend highly that you give Steven Kennedy a call, he is very close to the area you described, and an excellent instructor..
