Default Manchester Casting Club

When: Wednesday, 23-May-2012 6.30-8.30pm

Where: Platt Fields Park Boating Lake
Wilmslow Road, Fallowfield, Manchester, M14 6LA

Easily accessible by bus from Central and South Manchester; on what is said to be the busiest bus route in Europe!

Car park, accessible via Langley Rd (off Wilmslow Rd, on the corner with USDAW union office, M14 6LJ)

Friends of Platt Fields - Getting to the Park

The availability of water opens up the worlds of Spey Casting and other waterborne anchor casting. Two-handed rods welcome!

Whilst there are no guarantees of which instructors will be on hand on any given week, for the past five or six weeks we have had experienced, highly-qualified instructors capable of teaching with both single- and two-handed rods.

Overhead casting will still be on grass.

Hope to see you there!

Andrew

I use a couple of venues for my own practice in south or central Manchester.

Andrew
I would avoid Thursday nights, but on the bright side Tuesdays and Wednesdays are probably fine

It's a bit dark on a winter nigh Malcolm; that's why I suggested Saturday or Sunday mornings. Carron Speyside to Manchester would be a bit of a journey for you

To suit those interested.

On Saturday mornings I would suggest the little park at the back of Stockport Fly Fishing, it doesn't have a name on Google maps.
The reason I suggest this is that Tony *might* let us have a try of one or two rods

Otherwise there are plenty of public parks, and football and rugby pitches.

I tend to practice on grass, saving Platt Fields boating lake for single- and double-handed Spey practice

Andrew

You're not forgetting that Chris68 runs a NW casting club? (Though not on at the moment, I think)

Your right Bill, I'm not forgetting that. As you correctly point out, Chris's NW Casting Club has finished for the winter.

Seeing as you're in Sale bill1, are you going to join us: it's a lot closer than Horwich

its a bit cold at the moment, an interesting statistic from Glasgow casting club..in the couple of years its been going we must be getting into the hundreds of attendees that have came and went, very few were from this forum, also most that seek tuition fish wild, maybe just a demographic thing but we dont really see many that fish for rainbow trout, quite a few double handers though.
