Casting With Polyleaders
Hi all.
I'm wondering if any of you can help with a little problem I'm having at the moment when casting.
I am using a WF6F and over the weekend due to a cross wind I wanted the flies to sink a little further as the line was pulling round and pulling the fly up. So, I put on a 5' medium sink rate airflo polyleader with a further 5' of CoPol level tippet to a small beadhead lure.
Trouble was I suddenly started getting tailing loops. A chap next to me said it was due to the fact that the polyleader at the end was heavier than the thin front section of the WF6F and it was hinging?
I have no idea if he was right or wrong. I've not had this problem when Salmon fishing with a double hander and using polyleaders on floating lines so something was amiss.
Can anyone shed any light on whether I had completely unbalanced my setup and what I should have done?
