How many of you Distance Casters have broken a rod whilst Casting?

Brian

Brian
I have exploded two rods in the last year while practicing distance. Why what have you broken?

I believe if you go onto Sexyloops and ask you will get plenty of replies, I am tempted to get into some distance work but I'm not sure I can afford the rods!!

What is a distance caster?
Someone that casts a long line or someone who includes a tape measure as part of their fishing tackle, serious question?

Buzz,

I tend to have a tape measure with me when I teach, gives people perspective of distances (also stops the odd wild claim)

I think the distance casting that Brian in on about is the 5 and 7 weight distance comps, the type as seen on Sexyloops and the BFCC comps

Chris

I heard of someone at a trade show / game fair who blew a rod... He smiled, handed it back to the Hardy rep and said 'don't think I'll be buying one of those' - then walked off...

I would say that a distance caster does not carry fishing tackle , distance casting is a sport within a sport.

I haven't broken one yet Frank. The point I was trying to make was are all these broken rods due to overlining in effect
I met a Hungarian Guy Tamas Bascai who does a bit of this distance casting lark and he uses a 5# Gt140 on 6# rods and it works for him. He also Breaks Rods
And Frank, I thought about the Distance thing but I am going to leave it
