Default Single Spey - Help Please! (video inside)

Hello,

I am new to spey casting and can't seem to master the single spey cast - I can't seem to get the anchor to the right place when I try and change the angle. Please have a quick watch of this short video and any tips would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Ben

Default single spey cast

Ben, you do not appear to be forming any D loop which is where the power will come from, if you bring your arms up to the reel is level with your ear and on the forward stroke apply 50% power on your top hand and 50% power on your bottom had you should find that your single spey will be much better, try and anchor you line upstream and about a rod length from your shoulder, but ultimately I would recommend a lesson or two with an instructor.
cheers

Thanks for the help, I am confident doing a Snap T cast and use it for most of my fishing, but would like to sort my Single Spey out.

To be honest... you need to get your hands higher, top hand closer to your ear, stop leaning forward with top hand and stop the rod higher.

Try contacting a local casting instructor.

Watch Andrews hands in this clip

Thanks guys, I will give an instructor a call.

I own two lines; a Rio Windcutter and the Vision shooting head (as used in the video). Which would you reccomend for learning?

Alan, I see what you mean, I've just watched it with the sound on for first time.
