Default Lifting your outboard engine

I thought it may be of use to show people some of the options available so you don't wreck your back or give yourself a hernia when lifting outboard motors around.

I've not had any experience with anything other than a DIY trolly made from a sack truck, so don't know how these perform. Anyone with more examples should pop them up here.

Great bit of advice there Beanzy but if I were to pack any more gear for a bit of fishing on the lake I'd need a small trailer to carry all of it. It would be great if they were available at fisheries for anglers use.

I have a 15 hp Mariner and it is trying to balance the lug of a thing up the 19ft of boat. I know, put the rear in first, where it is normally used it is not possible to do so. Tends to deter me from solo boat fishing trips, although the trolley looks good on the trip from transport.

My 15HP seems to be a little heavier every year

Very useful ideas, I have struggled to get a big engine on and off the back of an unstable boat on many occasions. I used to be able to put one on my shoulder and carry it on board but I'm getting a bit past it now. However I'm still not sure how these do more than make it much easier to get the engine to the edge of the water, you still have to get it on the boat.

I know someone who uses a kids plastic sledge, piece of dense foam a couple of bungee cords to stop it falling off. He pulls it across a part of a field, swears by it.
