Default Cracking 'Brownie' from Rutland

Was out at Rutland yesterday and my boat partner 'Jimmy' Riddell hooked and landed a Brown of 12lb 09oz from the bottom of the North Arm. What a cracking fish, it fell to a #10 black buzzer fished on a floating line. Well done Jimmy, a fish of a life time.

I've heard the north arm has beening producing some good quality fish recently and out of Rutland that is one heck of a fish, I wonder how long that's been swimming around for.

Like you say Al, fish of a life time

Cracking fish!

Glad to see that Jimmy is still getting over for some decent reservoir fishing.

Al, give him a kick in the slats from me next time you see him.

After a long and epic fight of almost 30 min's to get the fish to the boat, it was in no fit state to be returned. I nearly always return any brown caught but in this instance, the fish was totally exhausted and was dispatched rather than released. It was a shame to kill such a specimen but it will have a fitting end in the 'smoker' and then enjoyed by it's captor and friends.

What a lovely fish, well done.

It's nice to know that there are big brownies still left in our reservoirs, nothing looks so impressive as one of these.

Well done thats a hell of a fish. Myself and a mate spent a day up the North arm back in June and had 34 fish. Off the 34 fish 23 of them were browns. The fish ranged from 2lb to 4lb and all were fin perfect and in great nick, in fact some would have passed for wild fish. Its great to see a good head of brownies in Rutland it makes a nice change from the rainbows. Oh and all the fish were returned and in typical brownie fashion the next day we only managed 4 browns, they seem to disappear as well in the UK as they do over here...

As nicked off AW's website:

And I gather he had the honour of a certain Rutland guide driving over his rods when he got back to the lodge...
